The College of Engineering is pleased to announce the Staff Employee Recognition Awards for the 2020-2021 academic year. Each year the College of Engineering and the College Association for Staff in Engineering (CASE) work to enhance morale in the College by recognizing staff for outstanding contributions exhibited above and beyond normal job expectations. Each year nominations are collected, with two exemplary awards recognizing one administrative staff employee and one technical staff employee. The top award is The Virginia Louise “Jenny” Frank Award which recognizes an outstanding staff member in the College of Engineering from either category. This generous award has been funded by Dr. Theodore S. and Brenda Rappaport in Jenny’s memory. Jenny was a co-worker and friend to the Rappaports. She worked for more than 20 years at Virginia Tech in the Mobile and Portable Radio Research group under Electrical and Computer Engineering, where she was a Public Relations Specialist.
Though we could not be together again this year, we are pleased to recognize and congratulate the 2020-2021 award recipients.

We would also like to acknowledge those from the College of Engineering that were nominated for the 2021 Staff Career Achievement Awards.
The Career Achievement Award was created in 2011 to recognize individuals who retired the previous year and who distinguished themselves through exemplary performance and service during their careers, is presented this year to seven individuals – across the entire university. These distinguished members of our community are staff who have embodied the Ut Prosim spirit of service by generously giving of themselves to the Hokie family for a decade or more.
This year we are proud to once again share in an outstanding university award honoring those in the staffing community with a history of outstanding performance. What a testament to the dedication, service and attitude of the College of Engineering staff!
We would like to recognize three of our recent retirees and congratulate them for having been nominated for this prestigious award. Barbara Crawford from the College of Engineering, Shelley Key from Civil Environmental Engineering, and Timothy Kessinger from Mechanical Engineering.
Congratulations on your nomination and thank you for your outstanding service and dedication to the university.
